Chat safety and community protection
Chat Buddy combines community rules, moderation, reporting, blocking tools and automated protection systems to help make public and private conversations safer and more enjoyable.
Safety at a glance
Practical protection for real conversations
No online service can remove every risk, but clear rules, responsive moderation and easy-to-use member controls can make unwanted behaviour easier to manage.
Active moderation
Reports, room controls and administrative tools help moderators respond to abuse, disruption and repeated rule-breaking.
How moderation works →Reporting tools
Report harassment, threats, scams, impersonation, inappropriate content or repeated attempts to evade a block.
When to report →Blocking controls
Use Ignore, Block or Complete Block according to the level of separation and protection you need.

You do not have to continue the conversation
Harassment, pressure, suspicious requests and repeated unwanted contact should not be treated as something you simply have to tolerate.

Member controls
Choose the level of separation you need
Blocking tools protect your own Chat Buddy experience. They are separate from website-wide administrator bans.
Ignore User
Ignore is useful when you do not want to see another member’s messages or activity but do not require the stronger interaction restrictions of a full block.
Block User
A standard block restricts the selected account from contacting or interacting with the member who created the block.
Complete Block
Complete Block applies Block and Ignore protection and can also cover other accounts or guest identities that Chat Buddy confidently links to the same person.

Chat safety FAQ
Open a question below for a straightforward explanation of Chat Buddy’s moderation and safety tools.
How is Chat Buddy moderated?
Chat Buddy uses community rules, user reports, administrator and moderator tools, content controls and automated protection systems to help manage disruptive or unsafe behaviour.
No platform can guarantee that every message will be reviewed before it appears, so members should still use block and report tools when necessary.
When should I report another user?
Report harassment, threats, scams, impersonation, inappropriate content, suspicious links, repeated block avoidance or behaviour that may place another person at risk.
What information should I include in a report?
Include enough information for moderators to understand what happened, such as the relevant user, room, conversation and type of behaviour. Do not publish passwords, verification codes or sensitive personal information.
What is the difference between Ignore, Block and Complete Block?
Ignore hides unwanted messages or activity. Block applies stronger interaction restrictions to the selected account. Complete Block can additionally cover accounts or guest identities confidently linked to the same person.
Does Complete Block ban someone from the whole website?
No. Complete Block protects the member who created it. It does not automatically create a website-wide administrator ban.
How do I remove a Complete Block?
Open Site Users → Complete Blocks, select the relevant entry and choose Remove Complete Block. An administrator can also assist when necessary.
Is it safe to share personal information in public chat?
Public rooms are shared spaces. Avoid posting your full name, home address, telephone number, workplace, school, financial information, passwords or private account details.
Should I click links sent by someone I do not know?
Treat unfamiliar links and downloads cautiously. They may lead to scams, fake login pages, harmful files or websites designed to collect personal information.
Can Chat Buddy guarantee that every user is genuine?
No online chat platform can independently verify every statement or identity presented by every user. Be cautious when someone makes unusual claims, requests money or pressures you to trust them quickly.
How can I protect my Chat Buddy login?
Use a unique password, enable authenticator-app two-factor authentication, save your recovery codes securely and review trusted devices regularly.
See the Chat Buddy account security guide for full details.
Will Chat Buddy staff ask for my password or 2FA code?
You should not send your password, authenticator code or account recovery code to another user in a public or private message.
What should younger users do to stay safer?
Younger users should follow the site’s age requirements, speak with a parent or guardian about online safety and avoid sharing identifying information with strangers.
What happens when someone breaks the community rules?
Depending on the circumstances, a user may receive a warning, have content removed, be muted, removed from a room, restricted, blocked or banned from the service.
